JPPG End of Year Awards

One of the highlights of the JPPG Holiday Party is the presentation of the JPPG End of Year Awards. Below are descriptions of each of these awards. Each award has a different set of requirements which is provided below or linked to the Service Points page where appropriate.

Photographer of the Year Award

Photographer of the Year AwardThe Photographer of the Year Award is the most coveted JPPG award that exists. To win this award puts someone in the highest ranks of local print competition and service. The Photographer of the Year Award is based on points gathered at two salons as well as service points gathered throughout the year. For salon, the cumulative score from the photographer’s case in both salons is totaled and additional points are earned for Best of Show, First, Second, or Third Place as well as for any images that merit (score 80 or above) – these points are tallied by the Salon Committee; however members must keep track of their own service points and turn them in on a quarterly basis.

Competitor of the Year Award

The Competitor of the Year Award is presented to the member that scored the highest total of points in the two salons, but did not receive the Photographer of the Year Award. The cumulative score from the photographer’s case in both salons is totaled and additional points are earned for Best of Show, First, Second, or Third Place as well as for any images that merit (score 80 or above). Marjorie Sharpe Service Award

The Marjorie Sharpe Service Award is presented to the photographer who has received the most points for service during the year. Service points are awarded to each member for many different types of service. Members must keep track of their own service points and turn them in on a quarterly basis. First Time Competitor Award

If you’re new to competition, you may have your eyes set on this award. The First Time Competitor Award is presented to the member that participated in Salon during the year for the first time and had the most points. The salon points are totaled in the same method they are for the Marjorie Sharp Award. Learn more about how Salon Points are earned.

Marie Moran Educational Award

The Marie Moran Award is presented to the member who has spent the most time and effort on personal education during the year. This Award was named after a very special person and JPPG member who has touched each one of us through her courage and determination and who believed in the importance of continued education. Educational points are earned by attending paid photographic seminars as well as mini seminars. Members must keep track of their own educational points and turn them in on a quarterly basis.
