On May 22nd, we’ll hope you join us as we welcome Kira Derryberry for her program, “Level Up: One Light Made Simple” sponsored by WHCC.
In this live demo program, learn how to master multiple one light set ups for studio and on location portraiture. Create dynamic images that are great for seniors, headshots, families, fashion, and more. Kira will guide you through selecting the right light modifiers for the job, learning how to see how the light falls to best flatter your subject, and all using tools that won’t break the bank! If you’ve been an all natural light shooter until now, this is a great class to get you out of your comfort zone and into the world of creating natural looking lighting that doesn’t overwhelm. Prepare to ask questions, learn new techniques, and level up your skill set!

Kira got her start in photography in high school then graduated with a BA from the University of Alabama with photography as her focus. Knowing how to shoot, but not necessarily how to start a business, Kira leaned on her experience as a web designer for work, taking a job at a Tallahassee based advertising agency for 5 years before opening her studio in 2010. Since her studio opening, Kira has developed a strong client base in portraits ranging from children and families, to headshots, commercial work, and boudoir. Kira and her husband Kevin have been together since 2002, and together they have a seven year old daughter, Lucy. When not slinging a camera, she spends much of the remainder of her free time playing video games and watching bad science fiction.
